Monsignor Oliverio studied at Cathedral College in Manhattan and
St. Joseph’s Seminary in Dunwoodie was ordained on June 2, 1956.
He studied Spanish at Georgetown University in Washington, D. C. and holds
a Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling from Iona College in New Rochelle
and a Professional Diploma in Counseling from St. John’s University.
During his time as pastor, Monsignor initiated a capital campaign at Assumption parish to address needed repairs and renovations. He attributes the success of that campaign to the generous cooperation and support of Assumption parishioners.
At Immaculate Conception Parish, Monsignor worked with
parishioners and an architect to develop a site plan. As the first
step of that plan, we witnessed the complete reconstruction of two
shrines: one to our patroness, the Blessed Mother, and the other celebrating
the redemptive love of Christ. In each case, reconstruction has come
as a result of the generous gift of a parishioner.
Monsignor Oliverio has always been very enthusiastic about the spirituality aspect of the church. His dedication to “reaching out and touching everyone” was a goal that he has set for both parish families.
