Reverend John A. Keogh Council 2108

The Rev. John A. Keogh Council #2108 of the Knights of Columbus encourages and welcomes new members (Catholic men 18 years of age or older) who are interested in growing spiritually while promoting and upholding the teachings of the Catholic Church, supporting its priests, and engaging in the culture in a responsible way.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic family fraternal service organization with more than 1.6 million members in more than 12,000 local councils.  Last year, the Knights donated over 57 million volunteer hours and more than $116 million to charitable and benevolent causes, sponsoring projects to benefit their church, councils, communities, families and youth.

The Rev. John A. Keogh Council, No. 2801 was chartered in 1928.  For the past 78 years the Council has been of service to the community of Eastchester-Tuckahoe and the parishes of Immaculate Conception, Church of the Assumption, Immaculate Heart of Mary, and St. Joseph’s.

The noble tenets of our Order spur our members to give to each other and serve the community.  We have erected and dedicated a memorial to unborn children on the grounds of Immaculate Conception Church.  For the past two Christmas seasons we have constructed and placed a Nativity scene at  Memorial Park on Route 22 in Eastchester.  Each year, among many activities, the council holds its Sonny Dalton Communion Breakfast, a Family Communion Breakfast, a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner Dance, a Columbus Day/John A. Varrichio Scholarship Dinner Dance and a Basketball Free-Throw Competition for our youth.

Keogh Council members come from all walks of life.  We are businessmen, laborers, firemen, policemen, and professionals.  Many of our members are retired men who still seek to serve the church and community.  Our parish priests are also members of the Knights of Columbus.  We serve the community on local governmental boards and our parishes as ushers, lectors, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Catechists in the Parish School of Religion, choir members, Parish Council members and in many other Parish ministries.

Keogh Council, through its Charitable and Benevolent Program, donates to the local parishes, sponsors scholarships to Catholic School students, supports the D.A.R.E. program in local public schools, contributes to the Elinor Martin Pregnancy Care Center and subsidizes seminarians studying at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, NY.

The Reverend John Keogh Council 2108 holds its monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 8:00 PM in its chambers at the lower level of Father Fata Hall.

All Catholic men who are serious about growing in the Faith and in meeting others in their community who are similarly inclined are encouraged to consider joining the Rev. Keogh Council.  Your involvement, energy, ideas and friendships are greatly welcome.  Please feel free to contact Deputy Grand Knight Paul P. Reisman at 722-6381 for more information.
