Natural Family Planning refers to the practice of achieving or avoiding pregnancies according to an informed awareness of a woman's fertility. This organization offers information and training materials for Natural Family Planning.
Aside from the issue of morality, there are numerous advantages to Natural Family Planning over artificial birth control: 1) Natural Family Planning does not involve the use of medicines, mechanical devices or chemicals. Side effects or risks that may occur with the use of such medicines or devices will not occur with natural family planning methods. 2) Natural Family Planning methods are inexpensive. A nominal fee is usually charged for instructional training/materials and supplies, but there are no ongoing costs. 3) Natural Family Planning methods require partners to share the responsibility for planning or avoiding pregnancy. Typically, couples who use these methods notice an increase in communication and in cooperation.
